Is there somewhere to find out where is the best place to locate the fins on a sup? I'm almost ready to apply the top skin and I have no idea about fin location? I can only find one picture from a fin supplier showing the main fin in the center and two others slanting slightly inward but how far from the tail, edges, what angle, I want (need) to get this right the first time.

Hey joekelly! Not too sure what to tell you, if it was a longboard 8' to 9.5' I'd say to place a single fin about 7"-9" forward of the tail. But it sounds like you going with a thruster set up? Best idea I have is to measure up a SUP whose ride you like and try to duplicate it! With regard to the outer fins, I believe that I would set them up at right angles with the bottom of the board, but the longitudinal angle would not be straight forward. Rather they would be pointed to a point on the centerline of the board at the very forward tip. FWIW Now that I think of it, you could just put in a large fin block that would cover all possibilities!!! Just remember to keep good records of where it is located. I thought I did on mine but when I cut off the tail for a tail block I realised that I had dimensioned from a place that was now gone... Good luck and bring some photo's back!
