I have use well plugs on cars and even used one to seal an oil pan during a race and drove home ..60 miles I have had a 1/2" well plug in the 9/16" drain hole, in my large Igloo cooler full of water for 4 days ...was full of beer and ice, w/water...LOL...not a drop of water on the piece of paper towel, I put down, to let me know if it was leaking.... I figure I got a buck 50 invested ... ; ) Attachments:

Looks like a good deal, for a minute though...before I looked at the picture I envisioned a drain tab like on the bottom of a colman on the deck!!!
I may try that one, not too sure how to keep that nylon bolt that Chad sent? I keep losing it in the garage!

to mount , drill a 1" hole in a solid area and pour epoxy....drill to 1/2", and install plug! Un screw the 1/4"-20 and grip it to remove the whole thing or remove screw and leave plug...plug has a captured nut and when tightened, it barrels out and fills hole ...I use them to hold chopper seats ,that I make , on....

Vent Plug test - Was a success by my standards... cooler did not leak a drop for 3 weeks and plug was in direct contact with the sun , but is neoprine, so did not expect any deterioration ... www.grainsurf.com/forum/download/file.php?id=6493[/img] "]

What are your ideas for installing this in your board. Remove the entire plug every time? or as I was thinking it may work to counter sink and epoxy neoprene in place and just remove the brass screw? My thoughts behind the latter are that as long as the section of deck and backing wood aren't thicker than the neoprene plug and allow it to flare out as they are made it it would seal it off, then just remove the screw and release the pressure.

I actually will open the slot in the brass bolt, with a dremel, and use a small section od brass tube, solid bar stock and silicon-bronze or silversolder and make a folding tab and attaching to leash tab with a lanyard. The the foldin-tab thumb screw are available commercialy, but I can't find locally and I can make one in about 15 minutes...
