I am working through an 11 foot SUP and getting ready to install rails. I am planning on using 1inch think stock and best I can figure is that I will need 8 per side. Is 1 inch stock the way to go or should I use something thicker. Is my math right on how many rails I will use with 1 inch stock? I appreciate the help.

If you aren't using Timeless plans, check out my build.....it uses shaped rail and I think it is a better way to make a SUP, as it seems the the rails are more 50/50....plus it is quick after the jig is made.... I used a 2 x 12" x ?.....draw the outside shape anddrill 1" holes for dowels and you clamp up both rails and just use your spar to make a left and right...lay them side by side and flip the spar to get a L & R....cut close and sand to the line. I chamberd mine and am using Chad's triangle method, moddied a little to get a 60/40, on the board. The board can be lengthened by adding ribs in the middle.
