Ok got back for being out of town all week, and the nose glue didn't hold. I wet the out side and re-clamped it hope to maybe get a permanent bend tomorrow.
Now the bottom deck in the nose and tail area are splitting? Am I to address this after the rail an top deck are on?
I know I'm new to this, but I am challenged with this step in the build.
I'm going to try and soak the 1" rails overnight an then try them once again.

Been thinking of making saddle brackets, to mount on side of the table, to lay it in, on an angle ...that way I can pull the strips out and clamp them down. The length of the strips dictate how much water....leave a inch or two above water to grab on too...turned my ankle so it is slow going....at 63 every thing is slow .... ; )

Okay I'm back at it. Soaked the 1" rails overnight and went to put one on and sure enough, it snapped. I must be the worst rail builder there is. So I decided to just leave it and glue it, then I realized I had the rail on the wrong way. So I ripped it off before the glue set and when I did it split the bottom deck. Oh, did I mention I must be the worst rail builder. Good thing the isn't my paying job. My decision is to soak them all week and try again this Friday when I'm back from work. This is the most frustrating part of the build so far. I'm sure I'll get there eventually. Attachments:

SUCCESS! Well done. It looks like you are going with 8 smaller strips per rail, right? That should make bending the strips easy...

Yep, I went with the one inch rail strips and soaked them all week. Much easier to bend, I also applied the glue immediately and just quickly put them place. The second one snapped but very slightly so I just glued and clamped it. I realized on the second to just start from the middle and quickly clamp out from there. Attachments:

See how the rings are in the next to last pic....if you had picked some bords that were quarter-sawn (all the grain running along the strip not across)..... they don't break so easy!

I thought I would give a quick update. I'm still working on the rails but I must admit it seems to be getting easier. Attachments:

Another look I'm about half way there. It's taking a lot longer due to the fact that I decided to use the 1 inch rails and that I travel every week so I can only work on this on the weekends. 24 hours dry time. Attachments:
