Here is some pics of my soon to be finished board. I still have a lot of sanding before the finish. I've made a ton a mistakes but hopefully I can cover them up. Here is the top. A mix of spruce, cedar, mahoganey. The back is spruce and red wood. Kind of a negative effect of the front. And the nose and tail.

Nice work! Are you going to glass it yourself or hire someone to do it? I love that redwood, I wish it was readily available in Florida but I don't come across it very often.... I can't wait to see it finished, keep it up! Chad

I'm going to glass it myself. I have glassed a few foam boards in the past so I'm going to give it a shot. I've only used poly before so I will stay with that. I just happened on a fairly local lumber company who still had a pile of knot free red wood 2x4 and 1x4's way in the back. He told me that was probably the last redwood I would see around here. The lumber company was being hit by the bad economy pretty hard and by the big chain stores. If I had any extra money I would have made an offer on all they had left. Its beautiful wood.

Looking good sandlapper!
Glassing is still a ways away from me right now, but I am getting there.
I especially liked your comment about "a ton of mistakes"...it seems like I have made enough mistakes to put a D-8 cat on its back. Glad to hear someone else can have their clutz moments.
At first when I ran into problems and I looked at the manual I would wonder why no specific directions? But the more I got into it, the more I understood.
Just do it!
Photo's to follow in the future.

Yeah, I think just do it is the way to go. Somethings you just have to experience to get a feel of what to do.
