What are people's thought on wood stain. Do you like it or do you prefer natural wood? Also, will stain affect glassing?

I have used water based stain on lighter wood to richen it up. It worked well, but you must let it fully dry. like a day or longer. I glassed a board just a few hours after staining it and when the glass cured i could peel it off like a scab. It sucked!!

Hi guys, I know this an old thread but thought I'd add to it as staining is something I've been looking at as my wood is basic pine and really not as beautiful as some of the boards that come up on here. Ive read through a lot of discussion on the best way to do it and still allow for epoxy led me to this site for Guillemot Kayaks who explains the best or safest method to stain your wood and still be able to cover it in epoxy. www.guillemot-kayaks.com/guillemot/blog/nick/staining_your_kayakHope it helps someone!
