Has anyone ever installed a leaning post or knows someone that has . Any information on that would be greatly appreciated.

on a surfboard? Nope, but I would be inclined to take it to a pro for something that is an add-on structural element on an existing boat. Good luck and let us know how it works out!

Not a surfboard but a paddle board. My plans are to make a board that I can fish off of. Hooking into a 10lb plus fish with nothing to get leverage off of but my thighs may make a great YouTube video but I don't want to be the guy who loses his rod and reel. ;D

Wow, what a great idea!
I would mount it to a wood block between ribs and directly in contact/glued with the ribs, top and bottom decks.
Method of connection to the wood block? Maybe Drill and oversize hole from the bottom of the board and fill with epoxy, when it dries, drill the right size to connect leaning post, insert screw, indent and fill hole with an appropriately sized dowl to fill the hole and make it flush with the bottom.
Let us know which way you go!

My first post here. So my adventure begins. I too am planning on adding a leaning post. However I am planning on being able to remove it. So I was planning to put backing between the ribs and then attach some low profile brackets of some sort that I can bolt the post to and then remove. I also want to put in a couple of hooks so I can bungee a cooler to the top as well.
