Hi Guys, I'm after some advice from those with more knowledge than me. I have now finished making and shaping my SUP and am debating how to navigate the issue of glassing. I think I will get someone else to do it for me as I know I'll probably mess it up. I have spoken to a few different people and am getting contradicting info on what point to install the leash plug and fin box. Some are saying I need to install them before the glassing, others say afterwards, what have other people done? My second question is that people are telling me to fit a plastic handle, but I don't think that will look right. How have other people routed/drilled out a handle and coped with glassing it and it not just filling up with resin? Looking forward to hearing back from some wise guru ;D

Greetings! Well, I may not be a guru, but that never stopped me before!! With regard to the fin box, I put mine in before glassing, taped out the opening and proceeded to glass away. In setting the box, you do need to mix up a batch of resin/epoxy to anchor the box. Then after glassing, cut out the taped area and detail the edges as required. With regard to the handle, I have no idea since surfboards don't have handles! But having said that, I agree that a plastic handle on a wood SUP would just be sacrilege!!! Now for the important stuff...got photos? Enjoy!
