Looking good. Picked some ideas on your thread, thanks. If all goes as planned I'll be gluing my deck next week.

cheers 1974. now have all the rail strips on - awesome method chad. i watch a few of the other styles and its a big job. i soaked the first two strips and the rest after that just wacked them on. started planing, hoping to have the top deck on by the end of the week. tomorrow i'm off to salvage some dead or almost dead paulownia logs that have not made it through the drought we have going at the moment. Board is looking good karuhi!

Do you have a portable millsaw? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

morning all, no i wish i had a sawmill. i have about 150acres of native trees on the farm, and a couple of them are just screaming out to be made into things. i rang around a few people and was given the number of a guy with a wood mizer saw. i'd seen the paulownia trees in my travels around. asked the farmer if i could buy a couple off him. he had a few that weren't making it through the drought and told me i could have three of them. cut em down and got the mill man to slice away. $120bucks to him, and had a nice little stack of timber. hes now coming to the farm in a couple of weeks to cut a japanese ceder up for me. very light and a lovely colour. cool

Great looking board! I love the way you matched/mirrored the grain on the two outboard detail pieces.... On top of that, you've got some new wood drying and some very nice wood coming up! (thats living the good life!!!) Cheers!
