I'm building the 11' SUP and am having a tough time getting good cedar for the decking and rails. I've been to three Home Depots and two lowes. The 1x6x12 boards they do have are knotty and not straight and are nearly $20.00. I'm in lake worth which is part of palm beach Florida.

Good luck in your search akroland!
I found some fairly clean cedar just outside of st. augustine at a very old lumber yard...even then it was fairly expensive (and the place closed at 4 pm so it took two trips to get one load). In checking at the big boxes I have found very little.
So look for lumberyards that are out of the main metropolitan areas and call around. This has been on of the toughest issues for me, finding good wood. But this is FLA so...
If desperate you can find it online, but at a large price with shipping attached...but the material looks good.
Thanks! I did find some nice cedar at lumber 84 off 595 in Fort Lauderdale. The build is going well. Right now I'm figuring how to install my fins unlimited 10.5 fin box. Does anyone have specific fin recommendations?

In my country very popular wood is bamboo. I like to make different things from this matherial. I think you can not work without special tools. For example, i have Forstner drill in my work, sets for this tool I found on review here drilling-it.com/best-forstner-bits-reviews/ and ordered in amazon Freud PB100
