Hello to everyone! My wife and I learned to SUP on the Colorado river in Moab (part of our honey moon) and had a blast, ever since I planned to build a couple of boards. Six months ago I purchased the 11' SUP plans from Timeless Surf Co. For the past six months I have been buying tools and setting up a shop in my basement. I've read every build thread on this forum and watched countless YouTube videos learning as much as possible before I began my building journey. I also want to build a surf board and learn to surf before I turn 40 in 1.5 years. I think it would be awesome to learn on a board that I built. Are there any plans available from Timeless Surf Co. that would make a good beginner board? I know absolutely nothing about surfing any help would be appreciated.
Now if I can just keep my weekend snowboarding trips to Colorado at a minimum I will be able to finish these boards before spring.
I'm totally stoked!!!!!

It took 6 months to complete my collection of tools but it was worth the wait to have some good quality machinery. Attachments:

I decided from the start to make more than one board so it made sense to me to turn the blueprints into templates and trace them onto the plywood. This way the can be used again and again. I glued the blueprints to a double layer of poster board to make them rigid. I laminated the top with clear contact paper to protect the templates. Attachments:

Holding the templates against the cut ribs and sanding with an inverted belt sander was an easy to get the final shape on the ribs. All were cut and sanded. It's time to build the rocker table/jig. Attachments:

I saw all the pictures of the expanding Gorilla Glue on other posts, but it was still a weird glue to use. I was surprised at how quick it kicked off. Attachments:

Now I am even more excited! It's actually looking like a board. Next is the rocker jig. Attachments:

Looking good 1974!!!
That was a good year for me...
By the way, either the 9'2" performance longboard or 9'2" cedar classic glide longboard would be a great board to learn to surf on.

I will look into those plans for sure. Started the rocker jig last night hopefully I will finish it tonight. Is 48" too wide for the rocker jig/table.? Boards are already cut so that's what I will go with for now, I can always go shorter.

This thing takes up a lot of room. 12'x4', soon i'll be setup to make many different size boards. Attachments:

1974, my rocker table is about 27" wide at the outside. 4' wide could be a problem when it comes time to clamp, but anything can be worked out...here is a photo of the rocker table. Basically a very narrow table (12") with cross pieces to build the rocker...very flintstone example here, others have built very re-usable tables. Good luck! Attachments:

So far I have used 2 12ft 2x4's, 12 8ft 2x4's, 16ft of 3/8" all thread cut into 12" chunks and 48 3/8" nuts. This over sized table got out of control! It measures 12ftx4ft. Any how i adjusted the rocker and am ready to start gluing ribs next week. Attachments:
