Handle?

This may sound like a dumb question but since I haven't owned an 11' board before, especially one weighing close to 50lbs, how do you guys carry the board, especially considering the width....gotta be hard to carry under your arm? I surfed for 20 years in So. Cal. on a short board but now live in the DFW area in TX so SUPing is going to have to fulfill my surfing needs for now and am planning to build my first SUP. The only time I have SUP'd was on a rental that was already waiting for me in the water. I haven't seen many wooden SUPs with a handle put into them, is there a reason besides the ascetics? While I agree I love the beauty of the solid board, I'm trying to think of the practicality of carrying it around, especially when you have to carry a paddle as well. I plan on making my wife one as well so she has to be able to carry hers as well.
Thanks all,
Hank

Hi trestles,
I put a handle in the middle of my 11" sup otherwise it would be a real struggle. I know that you can get a carry strap that goes around the board then you can put it over your shoulder but i dont know what they are like or where you would put them when you get to the water.
