While reading through some post on the grain surf forum and hoping to find out the best kind of vent to install I found some interesting information. A few people are saying that you need more than one vent on a 11' SUP and some are saying this is need on any SUP in general. Does anyone have some input on this?

I can't say with certainty if it is true or not...though it seems like it very well could be the case. Either way, there is certainly no harm in adding another vent just in case.

I think if you are using Gortex or other "automatic" vents, then this is probably the case and you would want 2 or more vents. Certain vents only breathe a certain amount of air per minute and would probably require more that one vent just to keep up with the shock of dropping a 85 degree board into 60 degree water. I use removeable vents so it can breathe freely while not in use, then i close the vent when I get to the water, float the board in the water for a bit and let some waves roll over it, then vent, then reseal. I will do this a couple times if the water is really cold, and sometimes vent again after my first wave. Does anyone else have any experience with these modern vents?

After doing some math on air flow and pressure changes it would require two if not three gore tex plugs for a 10'+ board. Although I live in South Louisiana and air water temps are both hot I think I am going to play it safe and just go with a traditional screw in plug that way air flow isnt restricted.
